Project summary
At this time the INCDT COMOTI Bucharest is building screw compression instalations for natural gases used by PETROM – OMV and ROMGAZ. They are located in collecting parks for brute oil, where the oil-gas-water separation is done; or close to gas extraction rigs located, in various landforms: planes, hills or mountaines. Their powering is made with electrical engines (that have antiex protection). So is necessary to buid an electrical network of great power toward their location. The project wants to power this compressors with piston engines; with electronic control and fuelled by the natural gases that it has to compress; rising in this way the energy efficiency. This thing implies the transformation of the piston engines with spark ignition and gas fuel in engine that works with natural gas. Also must be solved the problem of driving the compressor connected to the natural gas network and the response of the entire equipment to the variable parameters of the natural gas network. The functionality of the entire group is managed by an automation instalation made inside the project.

General objectives :
The main objective of the project is to increase competitiveness R-D by fostering the partnership in a field of maximum priority as the one defined by the program 4 – Partnership in priority fields
Specific objectives and estimated results
The specific objectives of the project are:
- making a piston engine with spark ignition and fuelled with petrol, into an engine with electronic control and fuelled with natural gas from the output gas pipe or from intake pipe-if the pression is bigger than the presiion needed be the engine;
- realization of a coupling system between engine and compresor;
- realization of the experimental model – Compressing installation with screw compressor powered by piston engine fuelled with natural gas;
- making of the testing stand for the experimental model;
- experimental test bench and demonstration of the model functionality.
