Project Summary

Thru the project is aimed the conception of a new fuselage panel, evaluation of the noise level in the passenger cabin for the planes equipped with turbo turbo-prop engines and to identify the measurements that should be taken to reduce the noise level for passengers comfort and to respect the regulations in vigor .

The project proposal aims to realize a full scale fuselage panel, and its testing in the unit for acoustic transmission measurements, in similar conditions with the ones in the airplane, with a noise source that ca reproduce the noise given by the engine.

General Objectives

The objective of this proposal project is to design and to manufacture a new fuselage panel. Some of the innovative characteristic of the panel is the fact that the panel has a large radius of curvature and model in the interior of passenger’s cabin, the acoustic transmissibility of the noise produced by the turbo engine. To determinate the acoustic transmissibility in the design stage, represent a major achievement, both for aircraft producers and for airways, because during the flight they must provide for the passengers a good acoustic comfort.

The specific objectives of the project proposal are in conformity with the objectives and the priorities of the program, by:

  • complex research and development activities, that include fundamental and industrial research, and they are conducted inside a national representative consortium, for the environment technologies to observe, prevent and attenuate the noise levels perceived inside the cabin and that are overtaking the limits imposed by the regimentations in vigor .
  • the integration, the increase in the quality and in the level of performance of the R&D activities developed within the corporation
  • the development of a long term partnership between the participant institutes including the one of public-private type;
  • the balanced development of the R&D activities and infrastructure, pursuing the elimination of internal disparities between the economical regions;
